Adapted for stage by Charles Vance

Production Date: September 2007
Bishopstoke Players celebrated their 60th anniversary with Charlotte Brontë’s well-loved classic nineteenth-century story of penniless orphan Jane Eyre. Faithfully conveying the exceptional emotional power of the original novel, and focusing on the love story between Jane and Rochester, the play begins as Jane arrives in 1846 to take up the post of governess to Rochester’s ward, Adèle, at Thornfield Hall, a place of mystery and fear. Jane and Rochester fall in love but their happiness is jeopardised by the discovery of a terrible secret from Rochester’s past.
